David Ortiz had 2 base hits as the North Dallas Fire Ants defeated the Tampico
Stogies 9 to 8 at the ballpark.
North Dallas started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first scoring 3 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Dustin
Pedroia began the North Dallas spurt when he drew a walk. Ortiz was next and
he ripped a base-knock. Josh Hamilton then drew a walk to load the bases.
Michael Young came up and he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond.
Tampico threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Erik Bedard(6-8) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Joakim
Soria earned the save, his 4th. Ben Sheets(2-6) suffered the loss. He gave
up 9 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 4.19 to 4.75.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Adam Arnett said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
